Victoria, BC, January 7, 2023 - Hot on the heels of her breakout music video which premiered last week, Canadian country music recording artist Melissa Endean is celebrating today's release of a touching and very personal new single from her upcoming EP, "When I Get To Heaven." Melissa wrote this track for her grandparents after her grandfather passed away from COVID. She explains: "My grandfather was a phenomenal musician, and he was one of my biggest influences growing up. Of all the things he accomplished in life, I know he was most proud of his 65 year marriage to my grandmother. She was the love of his life, and she was by his side right until he took his last breath. After he passed away, I wrote ‘When I Get to Heaven.’ It’s written from the perspective of my grandfather when he arrives at the gates of heaven, and he waits at the gates, refusing to go inside until my grandma gets there. The song means a lot to me, because if there is a heaven, I know he for sure would be doing exactly that- just waiting at the gates for her."
And though there may be hallelujahs
When I roll up at the gates
There ain’t one of them angels
That could ever take your place
I promised you forever
And if it takes that long to finally see your face
Then when I get to heaven, I will wait

Hailing from Kamloops (Barnhartvale) in the interior of British Columbia, Melissa was raised in a family of professional musicians, and her grandfather once toured with the legendary Johnny Cash. She is an accomplished performer and songwriter, with an immediately recognizable and distinctive vocal style that carries enormous range and power, garnering frequent comparisons to Dolly Parton, Patty Griffin, and Tammy Wynette. Melissa writes and performs with an unrestrained and unapologetic passion that is reflected in a collection of gut-wrenchingly honest and emotionally pure tracks that speak to the potential of neo-traditional and outlaw country.
